The wait is going to be over as Barbie has announced its released date. It’s july 21st.
This time Barbie is not just a doll but an emotion that everyone is going to be attached to in this 21st century. With an amazing cast, Barbie has made an exciting entry with a lot of plot twist and turns on the cinemas all over the world.
While the Barbie film, which has a run time of one hour and 54 minutes, has a fantastical aesthetic, you can actually visit some of the movie’s filming locations in real life, just don’t expect the same level of pink. California was used for much of the filming, particularly Venice Beach and its Skate Park in Los Angeles. Not only that, the cinemas also offers special gifts if we go there wearing the similar themed dresses and dressing up like barbie and wearing pink outfit such as a pink princess dress and suit for boys and if its pink it is going to be a plus point for them too.
The trailer has also been released. In the trailer for the flick, Barbie is seen driving along a pink brick road – a nod to the Wizard of Oz’s ‘Yellow Brick Road’. When a board meeting at Mattel headquarters takes place as Will Ferrell complains about Barbie making it into the real world, a skyscraper can be seen in the background with ‘Warner Bros Discovery’ written on it – a nod to the studio producing the movie. There’s even a reference to ‘rival’ doll – Bratz. In the trailer, we’re shown a group of four girls sitting at a table – looking awfully similar to the main dolls: Yasmin, Chloe, Jade and Sasha.
The storyline of Barbie is said to be “Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colourful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.”
The Greta Gerwig directed film sees Barbie and Ken go on a journey of self-discovery after their expulsion from the utopian Barbie Land, alongside a large, star-studded ensemble cast.
The cast of 2023’s Barbie reads like a ‘who’s who’ of showbiz, with superstar names across film, TV and music in the list. From blink and you’ll miss it cameos to scene-stealing performances, the entire cast includes:
